A couple of weeks ago, I sent out surveys to two groups of E.G.O. volunteers, those with Dispatch accounts, and those without Dispatch accounts. And nearly 50% of the recipients answered (which is, I hear, pretty good for these kinds of things). If you are one of those who responded, thank you for taking the time to do that. It’s been immensely helpful. And, if you have not yet responded, you still can do so. Your feedback is never too late or unwelcome.
Our ask for Handlers and Operatives in the program is to have three games scheduled on Dispatch. These games could be once a month, once a week, twice a month…whatever works for the particular person. So, one of the primary purposes for the survey was to find out what the major roadblocks are for Handlers to achieve the 3-games-on-Dispatch goal, and what kind of support they need to get over or around their roadblocks. And the overwhelming answer to that question was:
- Provide training for running E.G.O. and EDH adventures.
- Provide training for using VTTs (primarily Roll20).
- Provide training for using Dispatch and Warhorn.
- Provide training for marketing your games and building a player pool.
I think you can see where this is going.
The good news is that we have been developing video tutorials and also have one-on-one training available for most of these topics. Here are the places where you can currently find help:
For help with running E.G.O. or Everyday Heroes games as a GM in person or on Roll20: Our Evil Professor, Lee Anderson, offers personalized help and support. Other volunteers are willing to help you as well. Whether you want to tag along with a GM and see how they do things (and have them explain what they’re doing), or have a one-on-one, face-to-interface tutorial, we have you covered. Contact Lee or me ([email protected]; @ericdnelson) and let us know what you are looking for, and we’ll get you sorted.
For help with setting up and running Dispatch, we have several guides. First, there is a Quickstart Guide in the REDEMPTION Field Manual. This guide has links to short, video tutorials on different topics. There is an illustrated How to Set Up and Use Dispatch on our home page. And, in addition, Lee Anderson has this quick and straightforward How to Use Dispatch at the Academy.
For help with marketing your games and building a player pool, our primary resources for ideas and materials are the free Marketer’s Guide to REDEMPTION and the E.G.O. Program and the free downloads available on our Media Kit page, which has printable logos, posters, bookmarks, QR codes, and more for your use. But if you have specific questions or requests, please contact me and I will be happy to work with you to the best of my ability. Sometimes that can mean helping you schmooze a store owner or other venue, sometimes other things. Hit me up!
