REDEMPTION and E.G.O. Take Root
REDEMPTION, the scenario created for the Evil Genius Organized-Play (E.G.O.) Program (see below), is evolving, and so is the E.G.O. program. With a full season of adventures and side-adventures written, and several new 4-hour adventures in the works, the scenario is developing a life of its own and it needs to put down roots to grow. So, plans are in the works for a REDEMPTION World Bible, which will help ground the scenario in intriguing lore and an exciting backstory that can serve as a medium for further development. As someone who came to Evil Genius as a World Builder, I can’t wait to start work on this exciting project. .
The E.G.O. Program itself is in a somewhat similar situation. For eight months we have put our initial ideas to the test, finding out what worked (and didn’t) by trial and error, and discovering where our original ideas met (or don’t meet) the needs of actual practice. Dispatch went through several upgrades, the rules went through a few changes, and our volunteer roles, responsibilities, and rewards were revised.
And just as the REDEMPTION World Bible will eventually serve as the foundational document for development of the REDEMPTION story, we have a similar work in the offing that will undergird and guide the program in practice: the brand new and soon-to-be-released (as a free PDF download) REDEMPTION Field Guide 1.0.
Support for All GMs
For those or you already immersed in the exhilarating world of REDEMPTION, and for those who are considering stepping into this world, the REDEMPTION Field Manual 1.0 is your essential guide. Developed specifically for GMs and players in the Evil Genius Organized-Play (E.G.O.) program, this free (PDF) manual is more than just a resource—it’s your roadmap for navigating and guiding others through the thrilling, globe-trotting adventures of REDEMPTION. Whether you’re an experienced GM in the E.G.O. program or a potential recruit looking to join our ranks, the REDEMPTION Field Manual 1.0 is designed to make your journey smooth, rewarding, and above all, fun.
Moreover, whether you’re running games at your local game store, online, at home, or at a convention, the manual provides robust support. From setting up games on the Dispatch app to utilizing additional resources like Warhorn, from using pre-generated characters to finding players for your game, we cover every aspect of running a REDEMPTION adventure. The manual also includes a dedicated section for GMs running games in unique environments like libraries, clubs, or play-by-post formats, ensuring no one is left out.
You’re Going to Want This Manual
Here’s what the REDEMPTION FIELD MANUAL 1.0 has that will make this manual indispensable:
- The all-new REDEMPTION GM Quickstart Guide gives you everything you need to dive straight into the action. It covers the essentials, from setting up your first game to understanding the narrative structure of REDEMPTION adventures. Perfect for those who want to start quickly without getting bogged down in details.
- Running games and getting support for conventions can be both rewarding and challenging. The Convention Checklist for GMs Running REDEMPTION and Everyday Heroes Games at Conventions keeps you organized and on track from initial planning and applying for support, through running and reporting your games, all the way to submitting your final report.
- Sometimes the internet fails us. Sometimes trying to run a game on Dispatch with guest players gets a bit too cumbersome and awkward. No worries! The new GM Game Reporting Form and instructions provides you with both a backup and a Plan B so that you and your players receive credit for your game without getting bogged down.
- So, what are the unique rules and mechanics for playing REDEMPTION adventures and other E.G.O.-approved games? What can you import from your other Everyday Heroes IPs? How do you beef up your character AND support your Friendly Local Game Store with REP points? You’ll know all the versatile options once you consult the revised and clarified Gameplay Options for REDEMPTION. Along with sections for players and GMs, Gameplay Options for REDEMPTION also covers how to get the most out of your gameplay.
- REDEMPTION and E.G.O. games and characters are run, both at in-person venues and online, through our web-based app, Dispatch. And while Dispatch can do a lot, it is an app. And that means that there is…stuff to learn. But learning is now simple and quick with the new Dispatch Quickstart Guide, which includes links to video tutorials for both players (how to find and register for games, set up and manage characters, etc.) and GMs (setting up and managing games and players, messaging, reporting, etc.).
- Volunteers are the Everyday Heroes of our E.G.O. Program. The redefined and clarified descriptions of volunteer roles (Handlers, Operatives, Field Agents, Directors) and responsibilities found in the revised REDEMPTION (Volunteer) Roles and Responsibilities lets you know how the organization works and where you fit in.
- And to show our gratitude to our Everyday Hero Volunteers, we have a revised program of REDEMPTION (Volunteer) Rewards. The REDEMPTION Field Manual outlines the rewards system within the E.G.O. program, where GMs and volunteers earn “GEN Coins” and character Milestones for running and playing games. These coins can be redeemed (instructions included) for in-game items or store credit. Plus, there are special recognition badges in development for those who go above and beyond in their roles, adding an extra layer of motivation and achievement.
- And what would a manual be without a page of Community Resources? Here you’ll find links to our Discord and social media communities, contact emails, program web pages, links to VTTs, access to a folder of additional REDEMPTION GM materials, and more.

So…What is REDEMPTION?
At its core, REDEMPTION is an action-packed adventure scenario within the Everyday Heroes universe, where players take on the roles of agents in REDEMPTION, a covert organization dedicated to righting wrongs, protecting the innocent, and, at times, saving the world. The REDEMPTION scenario stands out for its unique blend of excitement and wit, where creativity, ingenuity, and grit often triumph over chaos and brute force. It’s a serious scenario that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Based on the Everyday Heroes Core Rulebook, with unlocks from The Vault, our Cinematic Sourcebooks, and our Bonus Features (like The Agency Files), you can bring along some of your favorite Everyday Heroes Classes, Backgrounds, Talents, and Gear as you follow the lead of the folksy and enigmatic Walt DeWalt, REDEMPTION’s Chief Recruiter and Field Agent, into the unknown.
